The Downlow on Drifting Creatives

Drifting Creatives is a brand consultancy with a focus in badassery. Designing user-friendly websites, developing beautiful brands, and creating engaging advertising campaigns are just a few of the cool things we do. Our creativity is unlimited and our media-might unmatched.

We began this journey right after college by designing our way across the country, putting our skills to the test and learning on the fly. Along the way we connected with and learned from other creatives and shared our experiences with students.

During our five months on the road, we were featured in two magazines, spoke at conferences and to students, and learned more in those few months than we ever thought possible. Our ways of thinking were challenged and our skills were honed.

Our time on the road is foundational to who we are, but we’re more proud of where we’ve come since we returned to Texas. While we’ve been back, we’ve worked with brands like Sonic, The Salvation Army, The Texas Film Festival, Weatherby-Eisenrich Insurance and tons of other exciting clients. We’ve developed as a team and as designers and have had the opportunity to produce epic TV commercials and websites that aren’t just beautiful, but add real value and increased revenue for our clients.

We’ve designed and engineered strategy for brands and various print campaigns that have been nationally successful. Our passion for design and your success is in everything we do, and we hope to show you just how rad your business can look.

We started our company in an unconventional way and continue to strive to be unique in everything we do. So yeah, we’re not your normal design firm, but you don’t want us to be. We are Martin Hooper and Gavin Braman, just a couple of warriors on our way to makin’ it big.

Gavin Braman – Partner/Warrior

I’m a 20-somethin’ image-maker and adventurer.

When I’m not making websites or logos for clients, I might be drawing friendly monsters. Imagine Hairy Friends is something I started and work on when I’m feeling exceptionally inspired. I’m a huge fan of monster-related art. Love artists like, Alex Pardee, Jeff Soto, Nicholas Di Genova and I would assume this obsession stems from my on-and-off addiction to computer games. #nerd

I also dabble in photography. Every shoot is an epic adventure and the entire process is very inspiring in both my design work and art.

Once I’ve exhausted all creative resources, I go rock climbing. I’m a huge fan of all board-sports too. Some items on my bucket list are to go deep-water soloing in Thailand, see one of my designs or monsters on someone’s snowboard, learn to kayak, make Drifting Creatives successful enough that we can hire a personal masseuse, and to one day have a beard as awesome as Martin Hooper, my business partner.

Martin Hooper – Partner/Champion

My artistic nature is the byproduct of growing up in the small but novel Henderson, Texas with a truly creative family. I like winter and craft beer, and my mother tells me I’m a blast to hang out with. I’m married to a wonderful Australian woman, and we have a pseudo-child in our black labradoodle named ‘Cache’, sounds like cash. Some might say that I’m just a bear with people dreams, and while I might appear to be a little rough and tumble, don’t be fooled – I do have a cuddly side.

While I like to do a lot stereotypical designer things like taking photos with Instagram, riding my bike, and pretending to like crappy music, my work is far from stereotypical or status quo. I’ve been able to work with scores of talented people in the past few years, and I’m looking forward to working with more of you in the future. My philosophy is that design is an organic, team-driven process, and I believe a well-designed T-shirt could one day save the world. Wanna grab a beer?

Spencer Cogburn – Photo/Video

A run and gun photographer born and raised in Texas with a creative passion for anything visual. With over five years of professional photography and video experience both in the field and in studio, to me there is nothing greater than capturing life as I see it through the lens.

I am discontent with the same old boring photos and videos that have become a standard for our society. I strive to capture everything in its truest form and show the world just how awesome everyone and everything can be without over editing. We all see the world around us, but I aim to portray that which is both unique yet very normal about the everyday, to bring to light what is around us but we often miss.

Whether it’s with photos or videos, I put all my creative powers into making something truly unique and fresh that people may not have seen before. My favorite place to be is right behind a lens, and I hope I get to stay there for the rest of my life. Also, I look strikingly similar to John Malkovich when I smile and I have hair so beautiful, women envy me.
